Gifted Illuzionist Eisenheim amazes Viennese audience and even princ Leopold learns about his exceptional skills. The prince decides to visit the Eisenheim's show with his beautiful fiancée Sophie, the Duchess von Teschen. She quickly realizes that the illuzionist is her childhood friend. Almost forgotten relationship fires up again and they decide to flee together. The next day is Sophie found dead. Broken Eisenheim doesn't care about inspector Uhla and takes the justice in his own hands. He must prove Leopold's guilty of murder before his own life get ruined. But no one knows that Eisenheim faked Sophie's death and framed Leopold for the murder. He successfuly executes his biggest magic trick and leaves with Sophie.
