Danny Madigan is a boy obsessed with film. Especially action flicks featuring his favourite hero Jack Slater bring him back again and again to the cushioned seats of an otherwise barren cinema. The local projectionist, a good friend of Danny's, gives the boy a magical ticket one day, with a sly smile on his face, which allows him to move between the grey reality of everyday life and the vibrant fiction of the silver screen. But the young film fan has no idea what a treasure he has carelessly tucked away in his pocket. After all, he has long forgotten his ticket, as he sits once again in the comfortable armchair of a darkened cinema, enjoying his favourite action scenes. It is at the most thrilling moment that the magic begins to work and the boy finds himself in the film. Specifically, in the back seat of a speeding convertible. He's just come into the best part - Jack Slater at the wheel being chased by a group of bloodthirsty bad guys. Bullets, grenades and parked cars whizz through the air, gunpowder is not spared...
