Ballet dancers who have to end their careers early don't have it easy. They have spent their entire lives up to that point dancing and their preparation for real life is not perfect. Except for the utmost self-discipline and willpower pushed to the limit. What's more, former prima ballerina Dominika Yegorova (Jennifer Lawrence) lives in present-day Russia and faces a bleak and uncertain future with her mother. As a result, she becomes easy prey for the Russian secret intelligence service and gets into its course, in which she trains "herons". Here, a rigorous training course is conducted to teach its "pupils" to use their bodies and minds as perfect weapons in the role of professional seductresses. After completing the perverse and sadistic training, Dominika is deployed as the most dangerous heroness to Nathaniel Nash (Joel Edgerton), a CIA officer who runs one of the most important spies in Russia. Dominika and Nathaniel have a battle of wills full of spy tricks, mistrust, but most of all, they struggle internally with their inevitable mutual desire. Can Nathaniel convince her that he is the one person she can trust?
