The Truman Show explores the power of media and the increasingly blurred line between reality and its media or virtual image. Indeed, Truman Burbank is unaware until he is almost thirty years old that he has lived in huge film studios since birth and that he is the star of a television series with worldwide popularity and high ratings. Moreover, the creator of the popular series, director and producer Christof, has absolute control over Truman's life. The biggest problem for Truman, however, is not to realize the true state of things, but to decide to leave the false, yet so safe and perfect world... The film is inspired by American TV series based on reality filming and in its conclusion it unexpectedly grows into a modern allegory of a biblical motif - the expulsion from paradise. Genre-wise, it is a fantastical, bizarre and spectacular drama with satirical overtones.
