Solo was a small-time crook who started dealing art under the table after the war. He was caught, but instead of rotting in prison, the CIA took him in. And Solo became one of the most successful spies. His current mission is to rescue Gaby, the daughter of a famous scientist who is capable of building an atomic bomb, and who is very likely being held by a secret organization led by her uncle Rudi.

During the rescue, their path is crossed by Kuryakin, one of the KGB's top agents, who is also searching for the famous scientist. It dawns on both superpowers that a nuclear weapon held in the hands of an unpredictable secret organization is not what they want. So the increasingly hostile sides must work together in secret, much to the chagrin of the two superagents, who must get along instead of at each other's throats. And Gabi is supposed to be a guide to her father.
