In this film we can see popular acting faces such as Rowan Atkinson who plays Reverend Walter Goodfellow (the vicar). He is cheated on by his wife Gloria (Kristin Scott Thomas ) with golf coach Lance (Patrick Swayze). The story takes place almost all the time in a small town called Little Wallop. The story begins to revolve when Grace (Maggie Smith), the Goodfellow family's cleaning lady, comes to the town. Problems begin to mount. Gloria is cheating on her husband Walter. Young son Petey is bullied by a gang of classmates. Daughter Holly brings a different boyfriend to her apartment almost every day, and Walter has lost his sense of humor and his love for Gloria. Grace is Gloria Goodfellow's mother so it is her duty to help them make the problems go away, but Gloria has no idea that Grace is her mother who has been locked up in the psych ward for some time for killing her own husband and the woman he cheated on her with.
