Gil is a screen and a novel writer who travels with Inez, his fiancé to Paris, where her father stays for business. He quickly falls in love with the city, which he finds gorgeous under the rain, to the great disappointment of Inez, who did not intend to move out of Malibu. One evening, while Inez is hanging out with an old friend of hers, Paul, whom Gil considers particularly pedant and arrogant, he decides to go back to the hotel alone, by foot. On his way he taken into an old car from the 20’s, in which all the passengers seem to be in disguise. During the night Gil meets a lot of personalities from the past such as Jean Cocteau, Zelda et Scott Fitzerald, Ernest Hemingway etc. The following night, Gil wants to bring Inez along, but she refuses to wait and leaves Before Midnight, when things actually starts happening. Gil keep going out every night afterwards which awakes the suspicions of Inez and her family.
