The film takes place shortly after the events of Avengers: Endgame. After the death of his mentor Tony Stark, Peter Parker/Spider-Man (Tom Holland) struggles to balance his personal life with his superhero duties.

Peter looks forward to a school trip to Europe with his classmates, but his plans are disrupted when Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) contacts Peter and asks for his help in dealing with a new threat. Together with the new superhero Mysterio (Jake Gyllenhaal), Peter embarks on a mission to defeat a dangerous enemy that threatens the entire planet.

Meanwhile, Peter tries to get the attention of his classmate MJ (Zendaya), but with her superhero duties and secrets, things get complicated. When Peter manages to defeat the enemy, he discovers that Mysterio is not who he says he is, and Peter must fight not only a dangerous threat, but also his own doubts and fears of what might happen if he fails. In the end, Peter struggles to come to terms with the consequences of his actions and prepare for the challenges that lie ahead.
