Stranger Things - Where to Find Common Places
Stranger Things is really a unique show in so many ways, bringing back the nostalgia feel even to an audience conformed mostly by people who did not even lived that era. This show really has everything, from strong characters, to great soundtrack, to terrifying monsters.
The name Stranger Things actually falls a bit short when you think about all there is to say about the show. Now, this year season 3 came out and it was a shocker all the way through. After a slow and very controversial second season, this one had to be amazing, full of emotions, cliffhangers, mysteries and much more, and boy did it deliver.
The series is full of mysteries, but it was filmed in rather Common locations, some are pretty cool so we thought it would be a great idea to check three places used to shoot some of the most important scenes of the show. But better beware, for we may have a little spoiler or two if you somehow are yet to watch Stranger things
What’s up with Hawkins these days
We all know that Stranger Things seasons one to three all take place in the small town of Hawkins. And probably you’ve never heard of it outside of the show, that would be completely normal.
Hawkins is a fictional town as you may have guessed already, but most of the scenes and locations are set in Atlanta, Georgia and the surrounding areas, even though the town is supposed to be located in Indiana.
Starcourt Mall
In the third season, this place gets pretty much most of the attention, not only as to how many scenes actually take place inside of it or in its surroundings, but also plot-wise. In actuality, the mall does exist in real life, of course it is not called Starcourt Mall, but rather it is called Gwinnett Place Mall (2100 Pleasant Hill Rd, Duluth, GA 30096).
It was once a very popular mall, however, with the success of the third season now, it will probably come back to life and bigger than ever.
Hawkins Middle School
Even though it did not make an appearance in season three, mostly due to the fact that the entire season happens during the summer vacations. We know important scenes of season one take place in this school, and season two also has some scenes taken in and near it. Of course it is not actually called Hawkins Middle School in real life, but it IS a school. Stockbridge Elementary and High School (109 S Lee St, Stockbridge, GA 30281) is the place used for the actual school shots.
The Wheeler’s House
The very first scene we get to meet the boys takes place in this house, and it is also where their “hideout” is located, and their D&D gaming location. The show uses a lot of Dungeons & Dragons references, most of the first season was entirely based on the game.
This is where Mike and Nancy, two of the main characters of the show live, and many of the scenes were the gang groups up take place inside of the house. Now, this location is actually a private property, so make sure you’re not trespassing if you go there to take some pictures. The direction is 2530 Piney Wood Ln, East Point, GA 30344, remember: the homeowners only allow fans to take photos from the street.
